My interest in pottery can be traced many years back and I’ve been creating pottery . I have been drawn to two forms of glazing that are used in most of my work: ash glazes fired in a gas reduction environment and crystalline glazes fired in a well controlled electric kiln. Both forms of glazing have presented numerous challenges, but I appreciate the beauty of both and continue to explore the possibilities of each.
Why Attend the Inaugural Spotsy Art Festival in historic Spotsylvania Virginia
On the second weekend of August, the gentle breeze under large shade trees and beautifully manicured lawns of the Spotsylvania Court House are transformed into a harmonious Virginia Art Festival of 200+ artists and artisans from all over the country. This incredible Virginia art festival will feature original creations from pottery to paintings; jewelry to photography; woodworking to sculpture and much more by award-winning artists as well as emerging local artisans.
There is ample paved parking adjacent to the lawn which means you will have only a short walk to and from your car. In addition to tents full of all kinds of creative endeavors, you can enjoy your lunch, while seated under a tent listening to music provided by a variety of local entertainers. This is only the beginning, artists and artisans will be demonstrating their skills and there are street performers located throughout the lawns to provide more entertainment.
This Festival will have something for everyone. Be sure to stop by the Welcome Tent to pick up a map and schedule of events so you won’t miss your favorite artist or any of these events. Mark your calendars for August 11 and 12, a destination weekend not only to enjoy the Summer Arts Festival but to also enjoy the County’s historic sites.
